"Spray Paint Lover" |
©JL Burbidge
Letters 4 feet high,
Red strokes on rock faces
Dripping bloody dye.
Look up and read my heart
Laid out for all to see,
A year ago or more.
Passing in the night,
Caught by love on the rocks,
For seconds in the light
You feel her fingers’ touch,
Uncertain why you left.
The letters pass, unspoiled
By rain or snow or sleet
Proclaim my everlasting love,
But I’ve moved on
To virgin rocks, write other names
Farther down the road.
